Minister of Finance

 

Marko Primorac holds a PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb. Before becoming a Minister of Finance of the Republic of Croatia in July 2022, he was pursuing his academic career as an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb, Department of Finance. Due to his expertise in public finance, international finance and financial institutions, he was also a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, postgraduate specialist study "Fiscal system and fiscal policy", and a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb. His academic career also includes an international experience as a visiting researcher at the CESifo (Center for Economic Studies and the Ifo Institute), München, Germany and at the Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow, UK.

Besides his academic career, Mr. Primorac was a member of the Board of Directors of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute and of the Finance and State Budget Committee of the Croatian Parliament. He was also a deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Croatian Electricity Company, of the Audit Committee of the Croatian Lottery Ltd., and of the Supervisory Board of the Croatian Radio and Television, as well as a Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Croatian Radio and Television.

In the period between 2018 and 2020 he served as an economic advisor to the President of the Republic of Croatia, and as an expenditure policy advisor to the International Monetary Fund.
