ESM Policy Conference "Strategic Autonomy: A European Public Good"
Agenda
On 27 November, the ESM is organising a policy conference "Strategic Autonomy – A European Public Good".
Featuring speakers from the ESM, European Commission, ECB, EIB, IMF, and academic institutions, the conference will focus on the policy mix needed to effectively balance the existing trade-offs in addressing Europe's long-term structural challenges while mitigating debt sustainability risks.
Securing the financing necessary to support spending in key areas is likely to prove challenging in a closer, inward-looking world. The policy session ("Strategic autonomy as a public good") will discuss the available options and explore new ones. The keynote speaker is Beatrice Weder di Mauro, Professor of Economics, Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. The panellists: Rolf Strauch (Chief Economist, ESM), Deborah Revoltella (Chief Economist, EIB), and Helge Berger (Deputy Director, European Department, IMF).
