Gunter Mayr

Gunter Mayr was appointed Federal Minister of Finance of the Republic of Austria on 20 November 2024. Mr Mayr started his career in academy as a lecturer of Financial Law at the University of Innsbruck. After joining the Ministry of Finance, he worked in the field of tax legislation and tax policy. From 2009 onwards, he was teaching financial law as a Professor at the University of Vienna. Since 2012, he was serving as Director General for “Tax Policy and Tax Law” at the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Mr Mayr holds two PhD degrees: in law and in social and economic sciences from the University of Innsbruck.
