Alexandre Lauwers

Economist, Economic and Market Analysis

Alexandre Lauwers is an Economist in the Economic and Market Analysis division at the European Stability Mechanism since 2023. 

Previously, he completed his PhD in International Economics at the Graduate Institute (IHEID), Geneva. During his PhD studies, he spent time as a PhD trainee at the International Monetary Fund’s research department, and as a research assistant at the IHEID’s Center for Finance and Development. He also worked as a consultant for the International Trade Centre, and as a trainee for the World Trade Organisation. He holds a MA in economics from Columbia University, MScs in economics and finance from Université Catholique de Louvain and from the University of Geneva.

His research covers empirical topics in international economics, banking, and financial markets, and has been published in international peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
